American Eskimos, 3 males

Here are the 3 males they are all considered happy go lucky in nature , like their dad Olaf. The Teal collared male is the smallest and the grey collared is the biggest

Our commitments as dog breeders and owners

Figuring out the pet business or should I say pet world these days has gotten complicated.Tones of dos and do nots, to , don't buy this  from these  kind of breeders by only from reputable breeders with waiting lists.or a rescue dog.
Gone are the days of reading the local newspaper ad section to see a litter of puppies free to good homes. Or definitely very seldom. This was my world growing up, my first dog I had at 2 years old, he was by my side till he finally died of old age at 14. No health guarantee, no tests, he never saw a vet or was even vaccinated, just a dog from somebody's farm. The best dog I ever had.
I had no idea what he was, he was big, had German Shepard markings and molded my life to be a respecter and  have a natural love for dogs. It wasn't a question or a have to do thing to go take him for a walk, as a child he just went with me everywhere. The dog was part of any outdoor excursion and adventure  and trotted along happily to the ditch where we played. Yes a muddy filthy ditch, how fun.
I have recently been over the net reading articles what's all  up to date in the pet buying world and my place as a responsible pet owner and breeder. There are 3 classes, the dreaded puppy mill situation breeder, to backyard breeder, to the registered reputable breeder.  So where do I stand? I am a responsible, experienced breeder . I do no extensive testing or health guarantee What does that mean to you as a buyer ? You will get a healthy puppy or dog, coming from parents that are knowingly healthy, checked by the vet, puppies or dogs live in a good environment, needs met and properly cared for, my expectations of you are to do the same to the best you can, which I check for. I reserve the right to deny you of purchase.if I see the puppy or dog should not be rehomed to you.

Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day where this would get so blown out of proportion, I can't believe the price of dogs, it's more than cow calf pairs., I don't believe or think it's right when the price of dogs and puppies from non registered breeders charge more or the same as registered papered dogs or puppies. if we were having to buy a pet and registered papered dogs were our only option we wouldn't  be having any.
My mission is provide healthy dogs through my experience and careful selection of  parents and breeding . We then watch the pups for any abnormalities and our dogs are checked when necessary to make sure they are healthy. Though I don't do any extensive testing, and extra costs I can provide a cheaper price , I feed a good quality dog food and regularly dewormi and vaccinate.

The label backyard breeder has gotten a very bad name unfortunately, lately and not every unregistered breeder is irresponsible or bad , I don't consider myself that when I read the characteristics of  what a backyard breeder does.i have lots of experience with dogs, I enjoy them, they are part of my life . I don't breed dogs for warm fuzzy emotional feelings for an "experience " any farmer with experience will tell you that not all animal births are good experiences, there are losses, and  I'm not in this for a "quick buck. "Yes there is money to be made,  but by the time you buy a good dog food pay the bills put all the care and time into it you don't have much  left. Every pup that was ever born over the course of 13

years on our farm has gone to a chosen home where they are provided for. I care very much where they go.
Where ever you plan to buy a pet, be sure to do your research and question the seller, any breeder or pet owner will be happy to talk to you, invite you to see the facility or yard, care about where the animal is going and its welfare.

About lovin my back 40 and what I do

Was created for information about our farm, lifestyle and what we do and how we raise our animals.
We are not registered breeders but I will say knowledgeable breeders and animal people. Thorough a life time of care a responsibility for animals and pets. We do our upmost to make sure our animals are well cared for and if we sell them we want to be sure to the best we can they go to good homes, weather iIt's a cow, kitten or dog, chickens etc. All are put in our responsibility to pass on to another home where they will be cared for.
We do our best to make sure the pet will match the owner and I like to talk to each potential buyer personally and I want them if they are able do to distance is to meet the animal and talk with us before purchasing. If distance is too great then phone calls and videos are next best option .

A bit about produce,  I raise chickens, eggs, beef and vegetables , all food is farm fresh and grown and raised respectively., Or responsibly.  I don't sell much but if I have surplus then it's available for th going rate. Vegetables are U pick for a bulk cheaper price, if I pick and deliver I charge accordingly. My main dependable crop is carrots, and usually eggs, particularly in the fall and winter months.

Give them affection

If you like them and enjoy them you'll spend time with them, we have dogs because we enjoy them and like raising puppies and other animals . We have the room and location to do it and as a family we enjoy it together .

Go for a walk

Walking is a priority with all our dogs, when I go out I take some dogs with me because I want them there. , it's good for us so it's good for them too.

In the snow

And walk some more

In the summer, checking work

Vet checks are a priority for our puppies

Before I let any puppy go to a home, they don't go before our vet that we've used now for  10 years sees each pup and gives them each an examination and their first vaccinations. I also use a vet in Prince George, which I have off and on for many years, they have seen our pups and adult dogs on occasions, sometimes for sad occasions  and more  happy ones thankfully. Our vet in Vanderhoof  is only open part time so I often need to make trips for unexpected appointments to Ospika Animal hospital.
I don't at this time do extensive testing for health issues or other disorders unless it would become necessary. We chose our pups parents as wisely as we could to be sure as far as we knew the offspring would be healthy. Each new puppy owner will receive a vet certificate and bill of sale.
Im also available for questions and keep in contact with my buyers to see how its going, and make sure everything is going well. Its not unusual for me to get repeat buyers or referrals from people they know. They become Facebook or Instagram friends or just a few texts by phone  from time to time. It makes my day when I get unexpected puppy pictures and words on how much they love their new dog !

Its hard not to do a good job when your heart is with your dogs everyday ! which is why we love doing this for people.

Before buying a puppy or dog, do your research

Ask yourself some questions

Can you meet its needs?

It's one thing to afford the dog or pup, the other is its needs. Many people have dogs loose in the yard, to walk or run with, what ever you do ,think of your responsibility and what you plan to do.
Make sure it won't be in the way of others and not become a problem.

What will you do when your gone ?

I suggest a place for the dog to be outside, with shelter , at least when your gone.,preferably a secured fenced kennel or yard is great, where they can have a bit of room  and get fresh air.

Do you have time to walk them every day ? Spend time with them ?

These dogs do need regular exercise, they aren't hyper or happy under regular exercise and affection but to keep them manageable and enjoyable regular exercise will be a must, a  fenced in yard will somewhat  do instead of you walking them, but they will thrive on being your companion and spending time with them.

Have you done your research ?

Is this the breed you want ? Not just because it looks good ,Don't get the puppy or dog just because it's cute and cuddly, make sure you get yourself educated on what you want and why you want it. There are WAY to many dogs in rescue situations and don't add to it.

American Eskimo puppies 2017 growing like crazy

I'm always out there with my camera and enjoying these puppies, I love photography so it makes it easy, it's also easy to write about something you really enjoy, and I really enjoy co- raising puppies with my children. In the next few pictures are a mix of males and females and just random shots I took today or very recent.
Next week they will start their short walks outside their big outdoor pen along some of our short trails. We start with once a day and go to two like the other dogs. Then they learn exercise, then food and we do this at consistent times to help them build regularity and it helps with  house or yard and walk training. Meaning they go relieve themselves in areas you want them to go. This is the start of training, but more on that another post.
